LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) oficialmente cancelado

Ya sé que voy un poco tarde con esta noticia, pero tuve aún creo que vale la pena reportarlo. Resulta que el lanzamiento del anticipado juego de LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) será cancelado por LEGO. Esto se debe a una política de LEGO de no producir sets con temas militares.

La Sociedad Alemana de la Paz denunció a LEGO por este set ya que el Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey es una aeronave militar. Aunque este vehículo en específico está diseñado para misiones de rescate, hubo bastantes protestas en Alemania para frenar su lanzamiento.

Ya que el anuncio fue tan tarde, hay varias tiendas que ya lo tienen en sus estantes. LEGO reiteró que las tiendas que ya cuenten con los sets podrán venderlos, mientras que los sets que están en sus bodegas, analizarán la mejor manera de reutilizar las piezas.

Debe de ser bastante vergonzoso para LEGO tener que cancelar este producto a 10 días de su lanzamiento. No es posible que nadie del equipo de diseño pudo haber previsto esto. Yo, en lo personal, no soy muy fanático del tema de LEGO Technic, pero puedo ver como podría ser frustrante para aquellos que lo son. Para mí, se me hizo muy coherente de parte de LEGO tomar esta decisión. Si en su misión está no tener ningún modelo basado en temas militares, se me hizo respetable su decisión. No obstante, debieron de haberlo evitado del todo desde el inicio.

The LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey was designed to highlight the important role the aircraft plays in search and rescue efforts. While the set clearly depicts how a rescue version of the plane might look, the aircraft is only used by the military. We have a long-standing policy not to create sets which feature real military vehicles, so it has been decided not to proceed with the launch of this product.

We appreciate that some fans who were looking forward to this set may be disappointed, but we believe it’s important to ensure that we uphold our brand values.

There are going to be some stores that have already received stock but LEGO Stores should never receive stock. Our sales teams have been in touch with their customers as well. I would expect a few mom and pop type shops to receive a shipment but larger retailers will be less likely.

Aquí está la aclaración de LEGO acerca de sets en tiendas:

For stock which is already in storerooms of retailers, they will be able to sell the set – we just wouldn’t be shipping any more copies.

For sets in our warehouses, we are currently working through our plans for the sets and will explore ways to reduce waste and reuse elements – that AFOLs are interested in them has been raised!
